A Psychiatric Advance Directive is a written statement of a person's wishes for treatment and care, created so those wishes can be honored if they are ever unable to communicate them.

Creative Psychiatric Advance Directives are a way to queer that up! Durham Art Asylum created a full-color template + art and poetry book that invites people to use comics, drawings, poetry, dreams, collage, and letters to open dialogue about our unique ways of caring for ourselves and each other. These templates offer a creative way to document our desires, needs, and visions for support.

With huge thanks to a grant from @southernvisionalliance, we're teaming up with COMMITTED: The Musical to offer a three-session teach-in and creative workspace. Art Asylum will provide support in completing Creative Psychiatric Advance Directives, along with access to a notary and guidance for filing a legal Psychiatric Advance Directive and Health Care Power of Attorney. Throughout, we'll center our collective expertise through an abolitionist framework of care, magic, and our shared power to transform reality.
